AERATED COMPOSTING

Composting is the aerobic decomposition of biodegradable organic matter, producing compost. The decomposition is performed primarily by facultative and obligate aerobic bacteria that live in the presence of oxygen and use carbon to transform it into carbon dioxide and water.

Main decomposable solid wastes are:

• Household waste.
  
• Green plant material such as crop residues, hay, grass clippings, weeds.
  
• Sludge coming from WWTP (Wastewater Treatment Plant ).

The end-product of this process is called “compost”.
It is used in landscaping, horticulture and agriculture as a soil conditioner and fertilizer
